$25m is how much YouTube’s parent company Alphabet clears in profits every six hours.

$25m is how much you spend when your goal is something other than solving the root problem.

$25m is how much you spend when you don’t feel the problem can be solved without cannabilizing your own revenues.

$25m is how much you spend when your board doesn’t believe that solving the underlying problem is either feasible or worth it.

Twitter has finally come around on seriously addressing fake news. But that was born of desperation, not conviction. YouTube doesn’t share this desperation.

If Twitter’s moves pay off, perhaps others will join them. But that’s a big if. This is a problem you could dump billions into with no net effect. You have to be motivated, and optimistic.

For Google that penalises you for copyright content etc at the first chance they get  this was shocking !

The spread of misinformation and fake news through YouTube videos has become a significant concern in recent years. While YouTube has implemented various measures to combat this issue, it remains a challenge due to the platform’s vast user base and the ease with which users can upload content.

One of the key factors contributing to the spread of misinformation on YouTube is the platform’s algorithm, which recommends videos based on users’ watch history and preferences. This can lead users to be exposed to content that reinforces their existing beliefs, rather than challenging them with different perspectives. Additionally, the anonymity of the internet allows users to spread false information without fear of being held accountable.

To address this issue, YouTube has taken several steps, including implementing stricter guidelines for content moderation, partnering with fact-checking organizations, and introducing features that allow users to report misleading content. However, the effectiveness of these measures is still being debated, and the spread of misinformation on YouTube remains a complex problem without a simple solution.

In conclusion, the spread of misinformation and fake news through YouTube videos is a serious concern that requires ongoing attention and effort from both the platform and its users. While YouTube has taken steps to address this issue, more work is needed to ensure that users are able to access accurate and reliable information on the platform.

Cell phones, being dependent upon cell towers and associated equipment would have been useless to a time traveler into the past.
