Absolute Superman #18: Black Adam Is Set to Change DC’s Hierarchy

With Ra’s al Ghul now free from his prison cell in Pakistan, but still showing signs of deep philosophical and moral change, it almost seemed like Superman’s future was going to be less hectic than before. But towards the end of Absolute Superman #17, we witnessed the aftermath of the horrors that Brainiac committed on Lex Luthor’s family.

And as announced earlier, the release of Absolute Superman #18 is seeking to shift the hierarchy of the Absolute Universe with the introduction of Absolute Black Adam, and possibly even Absolute Shazam! (via League of Comic Geeks). We were already introduced to the history of Kahndaq when we learned about Absolute Hawkman’s origins.

And now, from the ancient ruins of the same place, Black Adam will emerge as the brand new threat that will challenge Superman in ways no one can truly predict. Also, witnessing the massacre of his friends and family is set to change Luthor completely, where fans are claiming that he will be the one to help Kal-El destroy Brainiac for what he has done to him and many others.

On the other hand, we might also witness Ra’s al Ghul’s change after he takes a fresh dip into the Pits of Lazarus, and how that will change his moral compass when he had just begun looking at the light with Superman’s guidance.

Absolute Superman #18 will be released as physical copies on April 1, 2026, in the US, followed by the digital release with select authorised digital resellers on the same day.

Readers will be able to find copies of the upcoming issue at DC Universe Infinite through the digital medium around 30 days after the initial release. The physical copies will be available through your local comic book stores via an in-store visit or pre-order before the release date.
