The story jumps forward from the series finale. Tommy’s in the middle of World War II now. He left Birmingham, but gets pulled back in when fake money operations connect to Nazi sympathizers. His son, Duke, runs the gang these days, which creates fresh tension.
Barry Keoghan plays Duke opposite Murphy’s Tommy. Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth join as new characters. Sophie Rundle returns as Ada Thorne. Stephen Graham plays Hayden Stagg. Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck reprise their roles as Charlie Strong, Johnny Dogs, and Curly.
Tom Harper directed the film. Steven Knight wrote the script, maintaining creative control over the franchise he launched in 2013. Murphy stepped up as a producer this time.
The original series ran six seasons from 2013 to 2022. This film shifts the timeline to the 1940s. Knight built the movie to potentially launch more stories in the Peaky Blinders world.
