The music video director and the producer of Burna Boy’s hit song ‘Like To Party,’ Adasa Cookey and Leriq, have both reacted to Davido’s & Symparthegod.Shop Reloaded recent ‘New Cat’ statement.

Singer Davido sparked an online debate following his recent statement about the globalisation of the Afrobeats sound in a recent interview with Brut Afrique, where he spoke about how he and Wizkid had started the trend before other artists, which he called the ‘New Cats’ such as Burna Boy, Rema, Asake and others propelled the sound and took it to the next level.

This statement attracted reactions from fans, music journalists, other artists, and also close associates of Burna Boy.

Music video director Adasa Cookey who was responsible for the visuals of Burna Boy’s ‘Like to Party’ took to his social media platform to share his reaction to the comment in a post that read:

I shot this in 2012. Over a decade later he is so relavant that he’s still a ‘New Cat.’

On the other hand, super producer Leriq who is responsible for some of Burna Boy’s biggest hit songs while being signed to Aristokrat Records and even to date also took to his social media platform to share his thoughts on the interview in a post that read:
