All Slay the Spire 2 Characters, Ranked

Slay the Spire 2 is finally here, bringing a total of 5 characters for players to choose from as they uncover the secrets hidden at the peaks. Some of these heroes return from the previous game, while others are completely new additions. If you are wondering which character is the best choice for your run, we have got you covered.

Here’s a complete ranking of all Slay the Spire 2 characters, from worst to best, to help you decide which one is worth picking for your run.

5. Defect

Sitting right at the bottom of the rankings is the Defect. This returning character is known for its signature Orb mechanics, which can damage enemies and give various bonuses. Not only that, but you can turn Defect’s body into a weapon.

This character is quite powerful, but its main drawback is its high skill dependency. To get the most out of Defect, players need to have a strong understanding of its abilities. Not only that, but you need to build your entire strategy around the Evoke mechanic, and getting cards that can help with it. This can make the character difficult for many players to master.

4. Silent

Next up is Silent, which can be considered to be the assassin of Slay the Spire 2. This character is all about delivering those quick attacks, using cards to unleash a barrage of cuts on enemies. The Silent also makes use of the discard mechanic, potion effects, and other things to control the flow of the battle.

However, the issue with Silent is the fact that the serious damage comes at the cost of lower HP. You will need to play very carefully as you progress through the game, especially during the early stages. However, once you get comfortable with the character’s mechanics, the Silent can be a treat to play.

3. Ironclad

The Ironclad serves as the tank of the game, with a lot of health. It’s the first character you unlock in the game, and it’s incredibly easy to use. Ironclad’s cards can significantly boost damage and enable multiple combos during combat.

He also makes use of negative effects on his enemies in Slay the Spire 2. Not only that, but the Ironclad also heals 6 HP after every fight, which adds to his overall sustainability through runs. The only thing that can hold you back with Ironclad is the overall damage, as it’s not as high as other characters, but he’s still a safe choice that one can’t go wrong with.

2. Necrobinder

Necrobinder is the amalgamation of the dead in Slay the Spire 2. Sure, she doesn’t have a lot of health compared to other characters, but she makes up for all of that with her pet, Osty.

This beast can soak up all incoming damage, and also even wreak chaos on the field against enemies with amped up damage. Necrobinder is a character that can apply the Doom debuff and even allow players to get more cards. While it does have a few bugs here and there, Necrobinder is still one of the best choices in the game right now.

1. Regent

Finally, the best character in Slay the Spire 2 right now is Regent, which many players might consider to be broken. It makes use of a special resource called Stars, which allows you to strike the field with powerful spells. To get the most out of the character, it’s crucial to build a deck that can generate more Stars.

The only thing that can hold back Regent is its lack of defensive options. However, if you can manage this weakness properly, the character is the obvious choice to pick in any run.
