With the recent mega hit Absolute Batman series making the rounds as one of the best-selling comics right now, it’s no wonder that writer Scott Snyder has gotten attention due to this Absolute Universe title blowing up. But apart from this title, the writer has done several comics and comic series arcs over the years, and has made masterpieces of them.
Thus, if you like his Absolute Batman series, here are 5 other comics and story arcs Scott Snyder has done for DC to date, including many exceptional non-Batman titles.
1. American Vampire

Considered to be one of the best horror comics in history, thanks in part to the involvement of Stephen King in the early days, American Vampire was a title that was published under DC’s Vertigo publication division. The story focuses on a new American bloodline of vampires, born in the American West in the late 19th century.
The narrative here, by King and Snyder, proved extremely chilling thanks to a more visual, atmospheric storytelling, brought to life by artist Rafael Albuquerque. It blends almost mythic lore with the classic blood-sucker premise within the dark, gritty Western genre.
2. DC K.O.

One of the latest mini-series by Snyder, alongside the ongoing Absolute Universe title, DC K.O. is a mega-event he co-wrote with Joshua Williamson, a battle royale of major superhero variants from all continuities. And on March 4, 2026, DC K.O. #5 was released, marking a bombastic end to this mega event.
The idea was simple: give readers a full-on action-packed lineup of the biggest DC characters from the roster and let them brawl for supremacy. It is an extremely ridiculous, yet equally fun and adrenaline-pumping showdown of DC superheroes and villains.
3. Swamp Thing (Vol. 5)

Considered to be one of the strongest, most grand depictions of DC’s green monster, Snyder’s work in Swamp Thing (Vol. 5) gave this character a reinvigoration like nothing that was seen before. His work in Vol. 5 brought Swamp Thing back to its cosmic horror roots, as originally conceived by creator Alan Moore.
This led to a kind of resurgence of many other old-time aspects of the character, like the return of familiar legacy antagonists in a new light, mixed in with excellent horror storytelling, that lifted the bar that much higher.
4. Dark Nights: Death Metal

One of the best DC stories, the Dark Nights: Death Metal event, was a sequel to the 2017 Dark Nights: Metal event. This limited title proved to be the perfect continuation of the conclusion between Batman and The Batman Who Laughs, one of the most terrifying and twisted versions of the Caped Crusader in history.
This mini-series is extremely dark, utterly brutal, and excitingly visceral in its depiction of ‘What If’ moments, something that fans of the Absolute Batman series will find familiar.
5. Batman: The Court of Owls Saga

Arguably one of Snyder’s magnum opuses, The Court of Owls Saga introduced a mysterious shadow organisation into the darkness Bruce thought he knew Gotham City. And just like that, it gave us a Batman that had to fight the city he was trying to protect all this time.
This comic arc is considered one of the best Batman stories to be ever told in the character’s almost century-old history. And just recently, Snyder also introduced this organisation in the Absolute Universe with Absolute Batman #17, with fans’ expectations for the ongoing title now surging even higher.
