Invincible Season 4 is going to be unlike the previous seasons of the hit animated series. While the show has mostly stuck to the plot explored in the comics, Season 3 teased a completely new storyline involving Damien Darkblood, the supernatural detective who investigated the deaths of the Guardians of the Globe in Season 1.
While the character is minor in the comics, the show seems to be expanding on him greatly. Invincible Season 4 will also introduce a slew of new characters. These characters range from being interesting homages to popular comic book characters to important plot-relevant characters who are going to stick around for a while.

It has already been revealed that Dinosaurus will be making his debut in Season 4, as seen in the trailer, and will play a bigger part in the story in Season 5. Dinosaurus is one of Invincible’s most interesting antagonists. The character takes inspiration from Spider-Man’s The Lizard, with a dash of the Incredible Hulk.
Unlike Bruce Banner, who is mild-mannered, Dinosaurus’ alter ego is Dr. David Anders, a notorious eco-terrorist with a radically utilitarian outlook on ethics. Dinosaurus himself is no mindless brute. Unlike the Hulk, Dr. Anders transforms into Dinosaurus when he is bored or feels apathy instead of rage. Dinosaurus is the Doctor’s hyper-intelligence alter ego. The character will be one to watch in the upcoming episodes of the show. The role will be essayed by Matthew Rhys.
2. Thragg Is Going to Wreck Mark Worse Than Conquest

Grand Regent Thragg of the Viltrumite Empire is going to be at the center of some interesting revelations in the story of Invincible. What makes Thragg one of the more interesting villains in the show is not just his ingenuity, but also his complex personality. Unlike Conquest, who functioned as a great tacked-on villain in the show after the Invincible War, Thragg is not just a villain, but someone who genuinely believes he is in the right.
While there are some places where he believes he is totally correct, he acknowledges that he might be lacking in others and even apologizes. Lee Pace, who played Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy, will be essaying the role of the character. Fans can rest assured that Thragg is going to stick around in the show for a while and is going to appear in places that fans might not expect him to.
3. Universa Is Going to Test Mark in Ways No Other Villains Have

Universa is a character that might not necessarily be as strong as Mark. However, there are more than a few decisions that the character makes regarding this antagonist that make him come into his own as a superhero.
Mark has been struggling with whether he is like his father, and that question has been thrown at him from multiple angles. The way he deals with Universa is what sets the character apart. It is the culmination of the lessons that he has learned that finally cement him as the man that he believes himself to be, unlike the one who would thrive as a vassal of the Viltrumite Empire. Universa will be played by Danai Gurira.
4. The Great Beast Is a New Character Not in the Comics
The Great Beast is an interesting addition to Season 4. This is because the character is a show-only addition. While Invincible has largely stuck to Robert Kirkman’s original comic, it now seems the show will explore original stories from Kirkman himself.
Damian Darkblood himself is a relatively goofy and minor character in the comics, but the show made a lot of effort to make him an important player in Season One. Season 3 teased the character’s return, and he will be returning in Season 4, where Invincible is likely going to explore Hell (via Comicbook). Darkblood was last seen speaking with The Great Beast, possibly indicating his expanded role in the show.
5. Tech Jacket Could Get Its Own Spin-Off

Tech Jacket is a character who received a lot of praise for his cameo in Season 3. He was instrumental in taking on one of Invincible’s variants, whom he fought alone and bested. In the Coalition’s War against the Vilturmite Empire, Tech Jacket is going to be an important player. The character has been confirmed to appear in Season 4, as an important player against the Viltrumites.
Reminiscent of Blue Beetle and Nova, Tech Jacket is also a character who has had his own comic run. This means that if the character gains enough traction, Amazon might be open to making a short spin-off about them. It is also possible that Tech Jacket could get a special episode like Atom Eve did.
6. Space Racer Needs His Role Expanded in the Show

Space Racer takes inspiration from a slew of comic book characters. Be it the Silver Surfer or Lobo, the character is going to be instrumental in the fight with the Viltrumite Empire. Space Racer also made a cameo in Season 3, but the character is likely going to have a larger role in Season 4 as Allen and Nolan focus on recruiting a team to bring the fight to the Empire.
Space Racer and the Coalition of Planets are going to declare all-out war against Thragg and his allies. It remains to be seen how this section of the story will play out with the additional characters added to this season.
Aside from the characters mentioned, Volcanikka is also set to appear in the upcoming installment. It remains to be seen how Volcanikka’s story unfolds in Season 4. Do you think Invincible’s adventures in Hell are going to deliver to him a new ally that can help him fight the Vilturmite scourge?
